So, next time you have a craving for alcohol, try to eat something sweet like a doughnut or drink a soda. Of course, it is important not to do this at night as you might end up feeling quite hyperactive. Remember, it is healthier to avoid both alcohol and sugar, but if you tend to consume both, see if eating a sweet snack reduces your alcohol craving. If this happens, you need to start reducing your sugar intake and this will automatically reduce your desire to drink alcohol.

o Another way to reduce your craving for alcohol is to eat some good food. Most alcoholics are notorious of skipping at least one meal during the day in favor of a drink. So, next time you get the urge to drink, eat something nutritious, filling and healthy. One of the best ways to cut down on your desire to drink is to ensure that you eat three filling and satisfying meals a day.

o We are all supposed to drink around 6 to 8 glasses of water a day. However, most of us do not. Instead we end up consuming coffee, juice, soda and other beverages to quench our thirst. While this might be effective, the body needs certain amount of water everyday. So, if you are getting a craving for alcohol, trying drinking water. Get into the habit of drinking plenty of water right through the day and before you know it, your desire for alcohol will be substantially reduced.

o Many times people start drinking because they are feeling bored and do not know what to do. Rather than opening a beer or any other alcoholic drink, try to exercise. Even something like a short 15-minute walk can do wonders. By doing exercise, you are increasing the flow of oxygen in your body and this will change the way you feel and think. Once you finish your exercise, you will want to drink water rather than alcohol!
